The Grammy award winner and co-founder of grupo Mazz was serving his sentences simultaneously, which amounted to 20 years, was granted parole by the Texas Pardons and Parole board on Jan. 26th. This, after serving a nine month sex offender treatment program. Joe Lopez, now 67, will be be released with several conditions as part of a supervised parole until the October of 2026. But his former attorney Bill Habern has said many times that Joe continues to maintain his innocence and expects him to eventually be exonerated.
