Joe Lopez, singer and co-founder of Mazz in the 1970s, is eligible for parole.
If he were to serve his full prison term, it would end on October 27, 2026. Lopez was convicted in 2006 on multiple sex offense charges involving a minor. He was sentenced to 32 years in prison, but because he will serve the sentences concurrently, they amount to 20 years in prison.
The good news for all of his fans is that Joe is eligible for parole today October 26, 2016.
In a phone conversation this morning with Joe’s Brother Lorenzo, he told us that, if all goes well, Joe will be given a date for a parole hearing today. It will be at that parole hearing that he may be given parole.
Super Tejano 102.1 will keep you posted on the results of todays happenings in the Joe Lopez parole case. Our thoughts and prayers continue for the Lopez family and anyone else affected by this situation.
