It is with great sorrow that we share the news on the passing of our dear friend and GREAT Radio & TV icon, Rogelio Botello Rios on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. With a career that spanned for 48 years in Radio and TV broadcasting he was a household name. It was tradition, for 38 years, to turn on our TV on Sunday mornings, while eating your barbacoa or menudo, and seeing that familiar face on “Aqui Rogelio”. Before his retirement, he was Program Director for our sister station La Lupe and previously for La M, La Mejor 102.1 (which eventually became Super Tejano 102.1). After winning numerous accolades throughout the years for his work and service to the community, he decided 8 years ago that it was time to retire and spend time with his family.
We extend our deepest condolences to all who will miss him in the community, but especially to his family. He leaves a great void in South Texas radio.
