VALLEY NATIVE WINS “TEJANO IDOL” IN AUSTIN!Mando San Roman10/17/20161 min read The Valley’s very own Veronica Flores has won the 6th Annual Tejano Idol 2016 singing competition, sponsored by the Austin Tejano Music Coaltion in Austin, Texas this past Sunday, October 17th hosted by “Lil Miss Dynamite”, Shelly Lares. The Tejano Idol finale featured performances by Shelly Lares, Isabel Marie Sanchez and last year’s Tejano Idol winner and Super Tejano artist, Monica Saldivar. Monica’s debut single, “Este Dolor” can be heard on Super Tejano 102.1. Celebrity judges for the singing competition were David Farias, Tejano Roze, Steve “Rat” Silvas from Cañonazo, Michelle from Hacienda Records, and Marc Martinez from Freddie Records. We’re proud to say that our hometown girl from La Sara, Texas beat out 15 other finalists during the finale. Veronica won $1000, plus the opportunity to record with Freddie Records and also a video and photo shoot. Veronica was Super Tejano’s 2015 Selena Singing Contest winner. Veronica also did a special feature performance, along with Jaime Flores, during this year’s competition. Jaime also from the Valley came in on 5th place during this year’s Tejano Idol.
